this year, i plan to take up two new things again - language and an instrument.

i am happy with my progression for the past year - advanced diver and now learning salsa too.

if it goes as planned, i'd like to learn mandarin and play the drums.

its been awhile since i've used this space to keep and tell of my stupid happy sad funny stories. i guess things change. and on the same topic of change, this year has been a year filled with changes. changes for the worst, better and for no apparent reason. and so, people change, and feelings too. though i have that sick notion that "shit happens", i strongly believe that "everything happens for a reason". there are still reasons yet to have known from years ago but i believe in time, it would surface.

a few key words for the year - decisions, happiness, hurt, anger, love, forgive, faith

that said, though this year was not shared with a few people i would have loved to have shared it with, it was still a very memorable year!

i cannot seem to understand the mentality of the x culture. whereby being jobless/unemployed for a period longer than a month is bizarre. all my life, i have taken the fast train - after SPM not even 3 months, i was enrolled into college, once i was done with foundation i zoomed into my degree and it was three years non stop, no failing etc, and out with my degree and two months after i got myself a job. now that i am unemployed because i chose to be after six months of work, it is wrong. while there are a handful of people from the z culture telling me to enjoy this break while i still can, it is so damn hard to do it when i hear the endless string of questions from every tom dick and harry, "found a job yet?", "have you gone for interviews?", "are you searching?" and blah.

its november already and when i think of how it has flown by, my my, all i can do is smile at the happy, stupid, funny memories i have made.

my one minute rambling.

i am off to the island for the fifth and final time. and i believe i am coming back an advanced diver. and really if all else fails, you'd find me full time on the island not being a beach bumm but yes trying to earn some bucks while doing what i enjoy.

if everything happens for a reason, i hope this trip will be a spanking one. six days on the island - yes it was what i told myself i would do and i am doing it. : ) happiness.

third week into my jobless life and i am spending it on the island. life is beautiful. and here's to good times.

i am defo missing all the girls who are away - canada, australia and uk. :((

its friday. again. i love it and i hate it.

i missed the dive expo because i was out with mama.
mama was sweet, she said, "we are going to buy you flowers for your graduation and we are going to toywatch". my mama was hilarious, she continues, "you know all parents would be bringing something for their children so lets go buy flowers, you pick what you want okay". and now i have a toywatch. hoora!

last weekends splurge for graduation - charles&keith heels, dorothy perkins dress, la senza bras.

i am finally graduating, you know the whole idea of having the ceremony of tossing the mortar board in the air and not being able to catch it. of taking the most beautiful pictures because another chance of graduating in this lifetime is very slim. oh yes and definitely the whole idea that we need to dress to impress i-dont-know-who is going to be funny. sharing this moment with my family is going to be epic too, since mom and dad never saw ian on a stage except perhaps when he was in jack n' jill's kindie school concert. not missing out my friends who i have journeyed with for the last four years and now all looking extremely different from when we first started, i am done with the tranny coloured hair back when i first started. : ) so yes my graduation is this sunday. i am happy.

dilemma i tell you.

situation:

i will be off to europe - and if you did not know, i will be gone from the 12th of august to the 2nd of september. three weeks away, world youth day 2011 in madrd and euro trip! and what you need to know is that i will be traveling madrid - barcelona - paris - amsterdam - london. oh and going on unpaid leave. :( i know right. pokai. but all is good with my fellow backpackers - ivy patricia, frederick antoine, benjamin shepherdson.

on the other hand, i also want to go diving. i miss diving and wouldn't mind going on my own if there is no kaki. been thinking of mid july before i leave on my europe trip. but again, when money talk bullshit walks. though im asking for too much, i want to go diving! its either a dive trip before europe or after and really before smells good. trying to cook something up now so cross fingers [chinese speaky speaky]

my life has been drama-less. happiness to an extent.

tomorrow the euro backpackers are meeting up to discuss the trip. finally we are!

i need to start my period keeping book again. this handphone thing is not working, 1) i forget to note it down on the calendar, 2) i have changed so many phones

and so its been a month now since i found out about something rather nasty that was going on without my knowledge. how time flies.

i have been thinking about diving. i want to go diving again! and really if all else fails, i would want to take diving to a next level.

today i wore red lipstick to work, and everyone had something to say. "fuuyooo, lawa nye u today", "wah!", "you look nice in red lipstick", "looks like the chinese red", "suits you totally", "it doesnt really suit your skin tone", "you look really nice". nice to get some attention, and for once bobo grandes didn't shy away. :))

this weekend is looking very very busy, no parties for irene because saturday and sunday is early morning, im not talking 9am or 10am here, im talking 7am! i dont even wake up at 7am for work. -_- and for the glory of God, i'd be obedient. :D

tomorrow we are going to an orang asli settlement as part of the avilaians's outreach for world youth day. and the day after we are having coffee morning to raise funds for world youth day, singing for 11.30am mass and chaperoning the kids for the movie screening kungfu panda 2 that we have organised to raise funds world youth day. and a wedding reception to attend at night.

i like to recap. and so two weeks ago, it was my birthday. i woke up and was getting ready for work when i hear kor kor's friends at his door. nothing new, kor kor was over hung that he gave me 500rm for my birthday since he was going to kk on the same day. and at work, initially no one really knew it was my birthday. something different since in school everyone would make a hoohaa. and after lunch, they celebrated my birthday with a super sweet cake and i even got an ang pow from my boss. sweet. after work, mama and i went down to wallis and got the dress i was eyeing. we had a good chat over spanish dinner and had a good hot stone massage after. the night started when i rushed home to get all ready and we headed for changkat. it was baan 26, werners and out. the ride home was not the same, for the first time my estimation skills were off. way off that jimmy got dirty and smelly. and the paper bag i was given was solid, nothing leaked after a whole ride of barfing non stop, phew. i woke up the next morning in the new dress and make up intact, just a little off. my 22 - something different no?

everyone seems to be asking me whats going on this friday. and really i wish i could tell them a gala. i seem to be disappointing people with my answer - no plans.

thinking back, i have been really fortunate to have people plan my past birthdays and given the opportunity to plan my twenty first birthday last year without a budget, i must say i was fortunate.

this year, and i have no plans. really nada. and i saw this really pretty dress from wallis, i think it shall be my birthday present with my very first pay cheque.

mama was so nice, she said she would get me a toy watch for my birthday. well kor had the idea of getting her a toy watch for mama's day but i knew better that she wouldn't use it. and then she says she would get it for me instead. my, she knows my love for watches.

and my friends know my new love for pandora. additions after another. a money bag charm because i am starting to earn my own money now and a safety chain so my charms don't roll out. thank you angels.

oh and i still have a present unopened because i can only open it on my birthday. i feel the love. i do after all my wasted tears. : )

the dive getaway

sybil and i were game for another dive trip after we became PADI open water divers. and the planning begun three weeks ago when everything went hoo-la-ba-loo because there were no rooms and then no affordable rooms. and when the room problem was settled, yes we settled for a dorm, it was a breeze, we got the bus tickets and since we were pretty familiar with the rest, we just waited patiently for the day to come.

days approaching friday [the day i was going to leave for perhentian] was topsy turvy with work and all the in betweens. mood was lost completely. a cry the night before just made things go down and all i did on friday morning was take out a bunch of clothes for kakak to help me fold. and off i went to office. i left the office close to 8pm and i did brisk walk to the car finally feeling some excitement. i got home fast, charged at the balance or barely left overs of devil curry and dashed to pack my stuff. i was craving for mc donald's and so abang got me a set when he came to pick us up.

we left the house ten past nine? ate the soggy fries in the car and walked down with the coke and left the fillet in the car. bummer. reaching early, the bus station was a mad fest - the noise, the air, the smoke, the people, the smell. hopped onto the bus and lets cut the story short, we slept through out, and reached there five to 8. got off the bus, saw the same boat taxi lady. we got onto the 8am boat. whoopedoooo!

idiots. i went down to the indian shop to takeaway the best milo [so i thought] and these two chinese were walking out of the shop, starring at me, and before they could even walk pass me one of them said in canto, "wah hou tai lup"

i gave them the longest jeling i could and kept myself contained. i was so mad i had to pick up the phone and express my mang feeling.

i dont look chinese, i hardly speak chinese, heck i am half chinese which only means i understand chinese!

with age comes a lot of things.

a month to my birthday. i have no plans whatsoever but i am excited. -_- i feel pathetic at times but really, more than pathetic is irene excited. do you see how easy it is to make me happy? yea, just remind me that i am turning 22.

one year ago, i remember having a load of assignments in hand but at the same time trying to work out a party plan. this year, no such nonsense. reflecting, my 21st party was amazing! i know right, complimenting my own party but heck, it was!

so perhaps for the next weeks to come, i should do all the things i want before i turn 22. so that i wont say, "i should have done it when i was 21".

above all, i am really full of myself. who was i kidding. the lewis'?

for five years i take arcoxia 90mg every month without fail. to keep me sane, walking and happy during that time of the month when i feel ugly, fat and emotional.

this month, aunty rose as mentioned had no manners and just walked in. i was at work with nothing. no killers no liners.

and for the first time.. i did not take no medicine to keep alive.

cramps came but it was not the massive ones that would make me leave everything i was doing to go home and sleep.

i did kegels and prayed.

i saw this best friends picture stand in a shop and i laughed to myself. i remember the story cocked up by my bitches because i quote them "we are on your side".

one of the funny things they said was, "irene no longer believes in best friends". the only problem here was, they lied. or maybe they were right but they said in a wrong context!

first day of work and it really didn't start the way it should have.

it only happens when you upload pictures by batch and realise the first batch pictures [first in the picture folder that begins the story] is all the way down and the last batch is all the way up.

the amazing people sybil and i met.

fezz [instructor], ali [divemaster], charlotte [our instructor]

our fun dive was 63 minutes! it was amazing, i didn't want to get off the water. besides that, my buddy and i had a fantastic time playing underwater. we laughed so much that our buoyancy went a little off every now and then.

following ali, we did a handstand underwater [with what, 20kgs on us?], we also swam under a small made bridge. we twirled and just for that moment, i felt like a fish. freeeeeeedom.

you look up to the sky and see the sun. and doing it underwater, beautiful.

one of the last few beautiful pictures before the camera battery went flat.

amazing corals and colours.

will never forget this school of parrot fish because when i saw it, i couldn't get my eyes of it. it was right in front of me. but this was the moment i lost my buddy and ali.

yes i was lost underwater!

i tried to stay calm and i did, but visibility was really bad and because i made a sandstorm by kicking the sand, lagi i could not see anything.

and then out of no where i see ali and sybil.

OK? OK! and we went along.

ali's photography skills are amazing!

again we saw these angels. catching catching.

we swam through these pillars. amazing especially with the sun light. through these pillars, i really felt like i was in a whole new world.

i spotted this boxfish. i got all excited and told ali but he only made a picture of it. i think it was too scared that it swam away from us. it has a small cute tail that wags very fast.

again, i wanted to make a photo with a new friend underwater!

spotted. and it was swimming in this little cage like. you know the little boxes you buy for cats to play inside and around it. yeah, fishes have it too. :)

and there was a baby fish as well. it was tiny. i told ali and he kept trying to make a photo of it.

looking at this picture, i really pity this little fish. how distressing!

my fringe was getting in the way and i kept having to adjust it. vain under water too. nothing new right? :p

ali spotted these fishes nesting and he told us to go low and he started making photos. we were so close to them. they kept coming really close and then moving back fast. so playful.

of course while he was making the picture from one corner, i went the other side to make this funny picture. you cant possibly see my smile so peace! -_-

and then i spotted these love birds and pulled ali's fin. look closely, there are two of them. what a beautiful photo. like synchronized swimmers, angels indeed.

i especially love this picture. there were 5 of the same shots but this was the best. and it was the first shot of me. (:

communicating underwater is fun.

it was breathtaking. i fell in love with the underwater world. ali was snapping all the way.

since it was a shore dive, we got geared up and made our way to the beach. and by then, we could stand straight and smile. if only someone made pictures of us during our first confined water.

ali or called alisan, the divemaster was kind enough to take us for our fun dive. even though he had 3 dives on the same day, he took us to the house reef after his third dive. of course i wanted to make underwater photos and because i kept mentioning it he brought the camera along and became photographer.

divers names on the board. (; and again sybil's name spelt wrongly.

the perhentian trip was planned. two parts - perhentian besar for PADI open water course and perhentian kecil for r&r and some night fun.

things didn't go as planned, boats could not enter long beach because the waves were insanely crazy! which only left us with staying the 2 nights at wrong beach instead of long beach. with no regrets whatsoever! learned that r&r day and night is as good as r&r in the day and party at night. :))

he drama, checking in 3 times into cocohut chalet, in accordance - garden view [40steps up], sea view [beach front] and sea view [40steps up]. yes mama counted because she never wanted to walk back up till night came. the weather had it owns mind game.

it was raining for most and the sun only came out to play two days. still, the mendung weather was good enough to lay on the deck chair, sip on coconut, read, check out the beach boys, stare at the sea and let the wind blow everything away.

the pictures above were taken during our fun dive/last dive. we completed our open water skills with 5 sessions instead of 4 sessions because we could not hover. or rather i could not. "/

for five days i woke up with a blank mind and now i am back with stressors!

i have exactly an hour to pack my bag, get ready for church, stop by the bakery and be at church at 5pm to set up for mass at 6pm as i would be singing.

and nothing new, i am last minute. i havent packed. and i just hope i dont miss out anything.

yes i am finally heading to perhentian to get my padi open water dive license. i have been wanting this for so many years now and i am happy i am finally doing it. i say, "it isnt rocket science". :))

i bought new flip flops, bikini undies and a beach top for my trip. and i did not forget my SPF50 sunblock. and daughters of arabia while i bask.

4 days 3 nights in perhentian besar and hush hush, perhentian kecil i come again!

i will be on the island for 5 good days!

please say you'll love me when i come back a blackened irene!

friday - luncheon with ex colleagues, tea at oldt own with sri, mass + way of the cross, massage at 10pm.
